Years of civil war during the 1990s took a toll on the health of Liberia’s people, and child health in particular suffered. With an infant mortality rate of 138 per 1,000 births, Liberia has one of the highest infant death rates in the world. EngenderHealth is working with Liberia’s Ministry of Health to help improve child survival by combating malaria, a common cause of death and disease in young children.
