Every Minute Counts

Making Motherhood Safer for 65 Years

Every woman has the right to deliver her child safely, yet not all can. A wide gap exists between the quality of care available to women in developed countries and those in developing countries—a disparity measured in lives lost. In addition to these needless deaths, childbirth-related injuries, like fistula, have been nearly eradicated in developed countries, but remain common in developing countries. A life-long injury like fistula dramatically impacts women’s lives.

While progress has been made in improving the state of maternal health care globally, many political leaders and donors have yet to take up the charge as a priority. Meanwhile, mother’s lives continue to be at risk.

We have solutions at hand and are working collectively to ensure women everywhere can receive quality sexual and reproductive health care. EngenderHealth’s comprehensive approach to maternal health care involves partnering with communities, health care professionals, and policymakers to improve the quality of care around the world. Highlights include:

  • Expanding postabortion care services in nearly 30 countries.
  • Leading largest effort ever to expand fistula care and prevention throughout Africa.
  • Mobilizing a response to prevent preeclampsia and eclampsia, common causes of maternal mortality.
  • Engaging men to support their wives to receive maternal health care services through the Men As Partners® program.

EngenderHealth invites you to join our campaign to make it possible for women everywhere to have a safe pregnancy and delivery.
